Wicked, Rock of Ages Headline Norfolk 2011-2012 Broadway Season

Norfolk is partnering with Jam Theatricals, a new organization, to present their Broadway series in 2011-2012.

The series “Broadway in Norfolk” is still incomplete. However, “Wicked” will be returning as well as “Rock of Ages,” a musical that features hit songs from the 1980s, and “Beauty and the Beast” from Disney. In the spring additional shows and information will be announced when subscriptions become available.

Jam Theatricals, an entertainment company based in Chicago, produces and presents shows on Broadway as well as across North America. Jam Theatricals operates in over thirty cities including Roanoke and Richmond.

Jam Theatricals and their partners, for their Broadway productions, have won a total of five Tony Awards, including their revival in 2009 of “Hair” and “Monty Python’s Spamalot.” Currently the company is producing on Broadway “The Addams Family.”

Norfolk’s current presenter, Broadway Across America, earlier announced they were restructuring and would be leaving some of their markets. The company this season through January 2 is presenting the musical “The Lion King,” which is followed on February 15-20 with “Burn the Floor” and then from May 31-June 5 “Fiddler on the Roof.”
